Hold On (Kayleigh featuring Nora Tol)

Recently, Kayleigh and I got back together to sing again. Yeah! We’ve worked together previously on songs like “Nothing Works” and “Shut Up”. I still had music lying around produced by 2Kingz, who also produced “No Good At Starting Over” and “Run Girl“. We worked on the lyrics and created this catchy song called “Hold On”.

Ka-No Music

Actually, Kayleigh and I only got together for the fun of singing and recording. Still, we lovingly dubbed ourselves “Ka-No Music” for this project – Mind you, this was the third combination of our names we tried, haha!

Learning Mixing Curve

I mixed the vocals myself. After all this time, I’m still figuring it out. In fact, I found a great resource in the YouTube tutorial videos by George Agombar (Third Fret). She doesn’t only explain how to do something, but also why. These insights are sure helpful in my future musical efforts too.

Songs Of Lelystad

We entered “Hold On” in “Songs Of Lelystad 2022”, a regional song contest, organized by music lovers. Songwriters and singers entered the contest with an original song or an adaptation of an existing song (with brand new lyrics). Kayleigh and I performed this song live on May 28th 2022 at Theater Posa in Lelystad. For both of us, our first performance in years, but it was also our first public appearance.

There was quite a bit of local press and social media coverage about the event and our performance. Unfortunately, we didn’t win, but we had a blast at the event. It’s also a great boost for our musical motivation!
