The Story Behind The Song

How Did The Song Come About?

At the time, I was in between jobs and decided to spend 31 days working on my music. I blogged about it on a few platforms. About midway through, I was checking out these beat stores – online shops from producers. They mostly offered hip hop tracks and trap beats back then, but I found a few hidden pop-dance and r&b tracks. Among them, was this beat which became “Run Girl”.

Inspiration

I don’t recall having a specific song as inspiration, but I knew I wanted to double the vocals to get a particular sound. My goal was to turn it into a really nice EDM track.

What’s The Song About?

It’s kind of a warning to yourself. Sometimes, you see a relationship not work out and you still want to hold on to it. This is like holding up a mirror and reminding yourself that it’s okay to walk away. Or run away, in this case.

What About The Video?

It wasn’t my intention to make a video for it, but one day, I had such a cool light coming through the blinder. That set the idea off to just start filming for as long as the light allowed it. It’s such a home made video, but it’s always nice to put something visual to the songs for YouTube. Beats uploading it as an audio video there.

Release

The song was released to streaming services world wide in September 2014. It was pulled in 2018, because the song is part of the upcoming album, “Looking Back Then Moving On”. All vocals have been re-recorded for the album. Some minor changes have been made to it. So, it will be back on the streaming services.
