It’s hard to let it go

Selena Gomez seems to have been born for a life in entertainment. As a matter a fact, she hardly knows anything else. Her career actually began at the tender age of 10 and not many stars can say they’ve already released a greatest hits album at age 22!

In the middle of a speedy and successful career, a little girl has to grow up and deal with whatever else life throws her way. With the album “Revival”, Selena has been making several personal revelations to the press and her Twitter followers. Most recently revealing that her visit at a rehab center was no addiction related. She had been there to get treated for Lupus.

Tamar Braxton dances into the light

Tamar Braxton
Tamar Braxton blog

If there’s one lady who’s been keeping herself real busy, it’s Tamar Braxton. Competing in Dancing With The Stars, talking on The Real, keeping it real on The Braxton’s Family Values and other reality shows, and calling all lovers as a singer. Oh yeah, and she’s a wife and mother too!

There’s a lot you can say about the Braxton family, but they definitely know how to rise above a lot of backlashes. Even if you didn’t follow Tamar’s big sister Toni Braxton’s career, I’m sure news of bankruptcy and illness have reached you, and all the while Toni gets back on top of things.

Well, you can say the same for Tamar. Her road to success has been full of setbacks. While, originally, all Braxton sisters were signed to Arista records, the girl group failed to succeed commercially, leaving Arista to look towards dropping them.

I’m a say it. Today is a P!nk day.

While rumors have been popping up everywhere, about her being busy recording a new album, she’s been mums the word about that. But, it is a fact that she has recorded the new theme tune for The Ellen DeGeneres Show. It’s her first new music in three years.

The track is called ‘Today’s The Day’ and has not only been released digitally, but has also been hitting the radio stations. I’m very happy about that, because in all honesty, who can resist a personal anthem like this song anyway?!

Adam Lambert
Adam Lambert review

Strut it Mr. Lambert

Now, I’ve actually missed his American Idol-rise to fame, so my first introduction to Adam Lambert was hearing him on the radio. He was singing to me – in frustration – “Whataya Want From Me?” and I was sold. Loved it!

Bring On The Theatrics

In his music, Adam Lambert sounds like he’s every bit of himself. The more I learn about his history, playing in musicals one moment and fronting a rock band in another, the more his music seems to make to sense.

Musical Chameleon

It seems to complete the picture. There’s always a bit of drama in his lyrics, a bit of being a “showman” in his vocal delivery and a complete unpredictability in the type of music he’ll do.

The mysterious pull to Daft Punk

Daft Punk
Daft Punk blog

They broke through with the repetitive song “Around The World”, which you either loved or hated. Perhaps you could even credit (or blame) them for the current repetitive nature of lyrics in our pop music today, but Daft Punk have definitely made their mark. Hey, they kept Taylor Swift from winning a Grammy for Album Of The Year, what can I say?!

However, it’s not that strange that you might not really be able to picture faces with Daft Punk. From the very beginning, they have tried to either hide or digitally distort their appearance. Instead, they created another strong visual and artistic image.

Besides catchy music, Daft Punk is actually also known for the visual components they add to their music, videos, movies and shows. The robotic looks they take to the red carpet, to pick up all those awards with, is now actually also a successful merchandising line.

Missy Elliott
Missy Elliott blog

There are two people responsible for shaping the Hip Hop and R&B sound of the late 90s: Timbaland and Missy Elliott.

Slow Start

The two came up with a unique sound. Okay, we did have to get used to it – They did the second Aaliyah album, but in its first week of release it was only selling slowly. However, once it hit the mainstream radio, we couldn’t get enough of it!

Back Thanks To Superbowl

Everybody started copying the sound. You can even hear their influence in my own music, because they’re a massive source of inspiration. So, I for one, was very happy seeing Missy Elliott return to the stage with Katy Perry in February of this year. That Superbowl performance put her back on the map….
