There was another major female pop singer, who had released a single last week other than Selena Gomez. Yes, Demi Lovato, whom I recently blogged about due to her collaboration with Jax Jones on “Instruction”, released her revenge song “Sorry, not Sorry” to some raving reviews. It also sets the standard for what might be to come. I’m not her biggest fan, but there was a moment during “Cool for the Summer” and its follow up single, where she suddenly sparked my interest and I thought maybe she was going to convince me now, she lost me nevertheless. The same thing has happened now with the release of “Sorry, not Sorry”.
There was such a buzz around the release of this single and when I saw the cover of it, I thought she was going to nail it and deliver me a killer song that would release me from my every day frustrations, but I’m just not really feeling this one. And believe me I have enough to say “I’m not sorry” for to relate.
I think I figured out why, too. I know it’s the thing to do, to belt. Everyone wants to be that powerhouse singer with big vocals and raw emotions, but there are days it just feels like everyone is yelling at me when I turn on the radio. And lately, I’ve been spotting another trend. People are singing again. Not just belting out loud vocals.
