Uber rides

Uber milestone reached

Uber has reached another great milestone. It was announced that has provided 1 billion rides, when you combine all the Uber rides the company has given worldwide. The driver and passenger, who made history, have received gifts from Uber. Find out what in my blog.

Here’s the original blog I wrote:

Christmas marked another milestone for Uber. In the UK, Marvin and Ara, embarked on the 1 billionth ride for Uber worldwide. Not bad at all for a company that only started over a little more than 5 and a half years ago!

Marvin needed a ride from London Fields, Hackney to Hoxton and booked Uber driver Ara. The ride would be a historic one, and Uber made it even more special.

Both Uber users have been rewarded with some cool little extras for this honor. Marvin got a year’s worth of free Uber rides and Ara has been given a free holiday to any destination where Uber operates. Because all of this happened in Hackney, one of the city’s charities received an unspecified donation from Uber. Ahhhh.

Fortune put Uber’s achievement in a great perspective for us by reminding us how long it took for Internet to hit one billion users or to get one billion people using a smartphone. Uber is right up there with those technological advancements.

All I can say is congratulations!
