Stevie Nicks

Stevie Nicks blog

For the movie “The Book of Henry” Stevie Nicks has recorded the strikingly simple and beautiful ballad, “Your Hands I Will Never Let It Go”. The song contradicts anything that is popular in mainstream music, but that’s the great thing about movie songs. It’s about creating the perfect moment in a story; the perfect image.

I don’t know to which moment this song will be used in the movie. My introduction to it was while watching the lyric video the production company had released. So, this was supposed to probably give me a better impression of the movie, but I’m not quite sure what to make if it then. A super sweet family movie or something more dramatic?

Stevie’s slow song stays at a steady pace throughout the whole song. There’s something about her performance on this song that is incredibly fragile. I’ve had some trouble getting used to her voice at beginning of the song. It sounds a little bit strained or forced. That sound comes back every once in a while during the song. It reminds me a little bit of Cyndi Lauper, especially in her current country phase.
