Simply Red

Simply Red blog

This last week held a surprise. It was announced that Simply Red would be next year’s main act to perform at the Symphonica In Rosso concert series in The Netherlands. The name of the concert series might remind you of one of my blog topics from last week, but this is not exactly the same type of event like the Night of the Proms. In the Proms, classic meets pop and that’s where it ends. In Symphonica, high end quality pop music, also provided by a full 40-piece symphony orchestra, meets the biggest show you’ve ever seen. Literally, every trick that is possible in show production is used and the set is always in red (hence, in rosso), which makes this a match made in heaven. The event has had over 1 million visitors since its start in 2006.

But that aside, I was more puzzled by the question when Simply Red had reunited? Last I heard, they had quit and Mick Hucknall moved on to a solo career, which was kicked off by singing soul classics, and enjoying family life. In fact, I think I have the DVD with their final moments as a group documented, so how did this happen?
