Is Sevyn Streeter turning into the queen of covers?

Published November 18th 2015

There are some people who are big, that have yet escaped the watchful eye of a mainstream audience. However, they are well known in the underground. Sevyn Streeter is one of those.

This R&B singer can bring you the most complex melody lines with the greatest of ease from her voice. She manages to translate those vocal acrobatics to easy listening, like it’s the most natural thing. It’s what earned her respect of her peers, but it could very well also be why huge commercial success has not met up with her yet.

So far, only two EPs have been released, both enjoying success on R&B charts. It gave the record company enough incentive to try a debut album, which has already been preceded by two singles, one featuring Chris Brown. A release date for the album is not set yet.

However, within the R&B and Hip Hop scene it is considered a true compliment when she covers one of your songs.

For long, it was something she stayed away from. Why would she cover someone else, if you have the stuff to come up with very original material, but in recent months she really got into the covers.

Two months ago she turned her hand to Tory Lanez’ “Say It” and just a few days ago she gave a feminine touch to Bryson Tiller’s “Don’t “, which has been well received by fans and music bloggers.
