The return of Jodeci

Jodeci

The past, the present, the future

There are a lot of come backs going on in the R&B genre, but this one is probably the most awaited. It’s the return of Jodeci. Everybody I know within the genre has always mentioned this group as their main source of inspiration. They were around for a short time, but made an everlasting impact.

In the 90s, when the music was as silky smooth as the image of most all male R&B groups, Jodeci brought something a little more real to the table. They were rough around the edges, both in sound as in image. So while groups like Boyz II Men, Az Yet and Shai were presenting themselves like they were the perfect son in laws, Jodeci were a little bit of trouble. And to boot, they had great vocalists.

The group has not been recording together since 1995, with the exception of brothers K-Ci and JoJo who had a massive hit of their own in the late 90s (“All My Life”). Producer Timbaland will be co-producing two of the tracks on the new album, up for release at the end of March. Yesterday the group has released their first video and years and it’s safe to say, it has been well received. The song and video is called “Every moment” and shows the guys are in great form. The new album is called “The Past, The Present, The Future”.
