Psy appears to be back

Published November 30th 2015

Remember Psy? In 2012 he got all of us to learn a goofy dance to his hit “Gangnam Style”, with which he became an instant Internet sensation. He had all the online marketers talking, turned the music business upside down and, basically, took us all completely by surprise.

“Gangnam Style”  was viewed 2.46 billion times on YouTube and is still the most viewed YouTube video.

Many people wondered if he was going to be a one hit wonder. Others thought he’d actually might be on to something good, but he couldn’t keep his fame. He already struggled keeping it up with his follow up single.

Perhaps, that’s why he took more time to plan his latest release, because yes, Psy is back. And, again, he’s got the Internet talking about him.

This time he released two videos, “Daddy” and “Napal Baji”, followed up by a new album, “Chiljip Psy-da”, which means “This is Psy’s seventh album”  in Korean.

Even though the album only contains 9 tracks, Psy has tried to squeeze in as many genres as he could. Hip Hop, EDM and Punk are all represented on the album and it features appearances by Will.I.Am and Ed Sheeran.

On the Internet his crazy video for “Daddy” is definitely getting noticed. It contains an obvious reference to Will.I.Am’s “I got it from my mama” and it’s been viewed over 400,000 times since its upload three hours ago! Will he give Adele a run for her money?
