Jewel's new album

Jewel’s new album

In 1995 Jewel was first introduced to the world as a young folk singer with, according to some, youthful, but original lyrics. Songs like “Who Will Save Your Soul”, “You Were Meant For Me” and “Foolish Games” filled the radio waves and got followed up by a more mature sound with tracks from her second album, “Hands” and “Down Too Long”. From that moment on, Jewel started experimenting. She tried her hand at being a pop star with tracks like “Intuition”, partially rebeling against other pop stars, while, at the same time, being one.

Over the whole of her career, she has done everything, from joining rock bands on stage, making dance music, singing Christmas songs and even doing a childrens album after becoming a mom herself. Her last mature release was a country album in 2010, containing a duet with legend Dolly Parton.

Jewel’s Always Crossing Over

Experimenting with musical genres lost her the large world wide following she had at the beginning. After all, Jewel was no longer the bohemian young folk girl. Still, you’d have to realize, that the free spirit she shared with us in her debut, is exactly the same that caused her to cross over all the time. Regardless, she’s still managed to maintain a successful music career, that has now been lasting a whopping 20 years.

Currently, Jewel’s not only released a new album, but also, a much talked about memoir “Never Broken”. Her story is an interesting one. Her rise to fame is a true “rags to riches” story as, in her teens, Jewel lived in a car, while recording her debut album. In more recent years, she’s become a wife, a mom to a son and now ex-wife.

The new album “Picking Up the Pieces”, therefore, might not be as commercial as people might want, but shows the maturity and growth of this phase in her life. To promote both the album and the book, Jewel’s currently on the road doing small gigs and book signings.
