R&B group Ideal embarks on comeback

US R&B group Ideal are probably not known to everybody, but their hits “Get Gone” and “Whatever”,  in 1999 and 2000, made us all think they’d become huge.

Unfortunately, their career was cut short. After a second record deal never let to a second album, the four members went their separate ways. Here’s a great reminder of their music.

Ideal Comeback Announcement

In the last quarter of 2015, the group announced a return on Facebook. In a post, they asked writers and producers to send material to use for an upcoming album.

In the meantime, new music has indeed been posted to their SoundCloud page, reuniting them with previous collaborators Brian Michael Cox and Teddy Bishop. That sounds very promising.

Ideal have also started to do some minor promotional work with radio.

Still In Original Line-Up

The group consists of two brothers, Maverick and Swab, their cousin PZ and friend J-Danté. All of whom are the original members of the group. Their debut album, released in 1999, sold 1 million copies and achieved Gold status.

Update February 19th 2021: Sad News

Ideal Member Swab Stabbed To Death

Earlier this week, Ideal made a sad announcement on their social media profiles. Unexpectedly, Cedrick “Swab” Cotton died in an act of senseless violence on February 9th 2021. He was stabbed to death, in broad daylight, after having an argument in his local super market. The suspect is still on the loose. Ideal set up a GoFundMe campaign to help pay for the funeral costs and any other costs that might arise dealing with this tragedy. With your generous gifts, they’ve already raised more than their goal.
