In a time where every artist is covering their favorite songs by others, Erykah Badu recently recorded her own version of Drake’s new single “Hotline Bling”. She’s currently working on a new mixtape, which will feature the song.
For the second single, “Phone Down”, Erykah Badu decided to do a real time live video on Periscope, which was only available yesterday. She streamed live from Las Vegas. Luckily you can still catch the replay.
The mixtape is called “But U Caint Use My Phone”, linking her famous song “Tyrone” that sparked her global breakthrough in 1997.
It was rumored that her mixtape would release this week, but there’s been no official news about this since the report. Her one woman show in Dallas, which premiered last week, wasn’t well received, but people are highly anticipating the mixtape. Her last release was in 2010.
