Boyz II Men to perform as ‘Teen Angels’ in Grease: Live

Published January 10th 2016

Boyz II Men are the latest addition to the cast of famous pop stars, who will be performing in Fox’s live broadcast of “Grease: Live”. They are casted as ‘Teen Angels’, who appear to Frenchy, and therefore will be singing the iconic, “Beauty School Drop Out”.

In the movie, the song was sung by Frankie Avalon.

Carly Rae Jepsen is casted as Frenchy. Jessie J, Vanessa Hudgens and Mario Lopez are also casted for this live event that broadcasts on January 31st 2016.

The members of Boyz II Men announced their angelic role on their Twitter account last week.

Former Boyz II Men member speaks out

Last week, former member Michael McCary has also made it to a few websites, by supposedly speaking out on his departure from the group. None of these website refer to the YouTube video, but after a search I did discover a few things.

Over the years, multiple videos, including a complete series, made it to YouTube featuring short interviews with him. In these, he has, at times, spoken out about the group before. Still, his departure has left many wondering about the reasons behind it and it never became fully clear. Unfortunately, unlike many reports, stating otherwise, he’s only revealed why he didn’t return to Boyz II Men, even when they made offers.

In these videos, he tells that Boyz II Men wanted to reunite with him (for their 20th anniversary year), but he wouldn’t return as a full member. Instead, he’d be paid a low salary for his role. This is why he didn’t return.

Watching the videos on YouTube, it is clear to see that Michael has been struggling with life and emotions after leaving the group. At first, he tried to developing other artists, but now, apparently, he’s been focused on getting himself to a better place, so he can pursue an acting career.
