SG Lewis

SG Lewis blog

After getting introduced to SG Lewis through Spotify, I really thought I was listening to a new r&b sensation. His songs sound laidback, even when they are up-tempo. They reminded me of artists like Usher, but in no way did I expect the songs to come from an upcoming club DJ. Of course, I should’ve realized there are many different types of clubs. Duh!

His name appeared to me after researching JP Cooper, for my blog about him last week. The two have paired up a few years ago for a track called “Shivers”, also pretty chilled-out. It’s funny, but that track didn’t even come up at first. It was hit new release, “Yours”, that sparked my interest.

It’s an intriguing track with sudden slurps and stops in the music, that makes you think something is going wrong with your streaming connection. At the same time, it’s all very subtle and easy to listen to. It’s a bit of a contradiction. I like contradictions. Hence, my sparked interest.
