Pixie Lott

Pixie Lott blog

If I would to be asked to describe UK singer Pixie Lott, I would probably say she’s a light version of Duffy singing teen pop songs. Somewhere in the midst of her bubbly pop songs, she has a voice with a slight rasp and haze in it that reminds me of the soul that Duffy brings to the table.

In the early days of Pixie’s rise to stardom, you could hear it much clearer than you could hear later in her career, but I really thing she partially suffering from trying to be commercial and therefore blending in with the rest, too much. Perhaps that’s why I hadn’t heard much from her over recent years.

Even though she remained successful in the UK, and also managed to keep on the radar with her participations in one of those celebrity dance shows and judging in talent shows, I actually mostly remember her from “Mama Do”. This was her debut single in 2009. I also performed with this song myself as part of my vocal training, so I used to know this song by heart.

She’s mainly continued making mainstream pop music, but her latest collaboration incorporates a stronger link to dance music.
