In this day and age, we are all obsessed with getting things done quick. We’re in a rush, we’re in a hurry, and we are quick to click away when music isn’t getting anywhere fast enough. For a while, it seemed like songs and videos were getting shorter because of this. We wouldn’t want to hold anyone up or anything. LOL! Some songs and videos even dropped below the average 3 minute mark.
Letoya Luckett has broken away from this with her video for “In The Name Of Love”. It’s a 13 minute episode of a love story. In the middle of it, you can find her music video for the song.
Before “In The Name Of Love” was dropped, two other videos already set the base line for what is slowly, but surely becoming a soap opera, which has been ongoing for about 7 months. Each video is an episode, which tells the story of her love life.
The new album, “Back 2 Life”, was released in May, so musically you can find out a little bit of what could be going on in the story. But you have to be creative then, because the track list is not in the order of the video releases.
I think setting up the videos as an ongoing story, gives the album that little something extra. The videos have an added value. I’m also very surprised at Letoya’s acting skills. I find her to be very credible.
