It’s easy to mistake Erykah Badu for a one hit wonder. If you´re not following the genre, you will mainly know her from her feministic “Tyrone”. Other songs like “Apple Tree”, “On & On” and her Drake  cover “Hotline Bling”, that recently went trending on social media, should be enough to keep her musical legacy going. Her Baduism, so the speak.

Still, it’s fair to think that only an older generation of fans is keeping her music alive, so when visiting a high school in Newark, recently, she suggested to test out, whether the kids knew her too. And yes, yet again, you see what great classics can do for you. It can live on throughout generations.

The kids may have needed a moment to recognize her, but once they did, they knew exactly who she was and what she’s known for.
