And then there were III: Get ready for Take That

Not all that long ago (although….), I was part of something amazing. I was a fan of Take That. The first boyband that everybody liked. Or that’s the way it looked to me ‘cos even if you hated their teeny bubbly sound, you instantly loved the lads. They were always incredible good sports.

Take That Members

It was the early 90s, when the band got formed by dancers Howard Donald and Jason Orange, songwriter Gary Barlow, and singers Robbie Williams and Mark Owen.

Robbie And Gary

Today, one of them is a major star in Europe. That’s Robbie Williams. Oh, how it puzzled the press that the solo success hadn’t happened to the most obvious member, Gary Barlow. It landed with Robbie instead. That discussion has settled now, though.

Jason Orange

No, now all the attention is focused on a press shy Jason Orange. Last year, he left Take That, but he recently stepped out buying a suit and got spotted – Apparently, it’s his first public appearance since his departure from the group.

Like many, I was very surprised about the news. However, and no surprise there, Facebook friends were ruthless. They quickly pointed out that he probably wasn’t contributing much to the group anyway. That’s something I would argue, after reading up about him.

Good Things Comes In Threes

I suppose you could say that his departure left Take That stripped to the bare necessities. If any more members leave, they’ll have a big problem.

So, with this group at a crossroad, it’s interesting to see what will become of them now. Especially because they are back.

III

They’ve released an album called “III”, as well as a new single, “Get Ready For It”. Take That put themselves back in the limelight in the new formation and the track pushed the movie “Kingsman: Secret Service”.

Everything Changes, But

Take That are a reliable source for catchy pop songs. “Get Ready For it” uses ad libs as part of the hook, which is the trend of the moment. The group is very connected to today’s pop music, while maintaining the pop-rock sound they’ve taken on ever since their initial come back.

So, Take That carry on with their musical mission and maybe, just maybe, 3 is all it takes.
