Last weekend, DJ Paul van Dyk was playing at the anniversary event of the annual State Of Trance shows in Utrecht, The Netherlands. After climbing on his spin table, he took a few steps sideways and took a major fall.
After his fall, the German DJ wasn’t able to get up and was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. Altogether, it’s expected, that he fell about 3 meters down as he was at the highest point of the stage. It’s been reported he hit his head after his fall. This could result in major injuries.
Main Stage Performances Cancelled
The rest of the performances on the main stage of the dance event were immediately cancelled. Other sets did continue at the smaller stages.
Many rumors surfaced directly after the incident, ranging from the DJ dying on the way to hospital to him being stable and well.
Armin van Buuren
DJ Armin van Buuren, promoter of the event, spoke to the press today and only confirmed that Paul van Dyk is injured, but alive. Because it’s not known what exact damage the fall has caused, Armin is respecting the family’s wishes not to make any statements about his injuries and is requesting everyone to withhold on any gossip.
When asked if this will end the popular State Of Trance concerts altogether, Armin only said that he wasn’t sure yet.
