Meek Mill

Meek Mill blog

I know it’s a bit unlike me to write about a rapper who doesn’t really go back to the 80s or 90s, but there’s something about the latest news stories surrounding Meek Mill that sparked my interest. He’s been sentenced back to jail for violating his parole. His probation was imposed on him for a gun and drugs charge dating back to 2008.

He got arrested twice during his parole. Once for fighting and once for reckless driving. So far, nothing out of the ordinary that a judge might rule a sentence, but the fact that he got sentenced for 2 to 4 years in jail has sparked a few reactions from his peers, business partners and even a governor (who will ask his judge to rethink the sentence). They think it’s a little extreme.

Maybe it’s to send a message. He might be considered some sort of a role model, but his lawyer has dropped an interpretation of his own about the current circumstances. Joe Tacopina told Billboard that the judge’s decision might not be based on a failed drug test and a failure to live up to a court order limiting his travel. Instead, she may have had the hots for him.
