Bobby Brown joins New Edition biopic

Published May 7th 2016

Bobby Brown has confirmed that he is now involved in the makings of the New Edition biopic.

Last year, it was announced that production on the biopic would begin with the support of all the group’s members, except Bobby. Even their manager and choreographer Brooke Payne would be making sure the biopic would tell the group’s story in an authentic way.

Bobby has confirmed his involvement personally, on his Instagram account, with a photo of his director’s chair on set.

Since my last article about this biopic, the full cast have been found, and includes two actors per group member to play the young and mature version:

Bryshere Y. Gray (known for his role as Yazz in Empire) and Dante Hoagland as Michael Bivins
Elijah Kelley and Caleb McLaughlin as Ricky Bell
Algee Smith and Jahi Winston as Ralph Tresvant
Keith Powers and Myles Truitt as Ronnie DeVoe
Woody McClain and Tyler Williams as Bobby Brown
Luke James (known as an artist himself) as Johnny Gill

Johnny Gill is currently promoting his latest solo single that features New Edition and has revealed that his new album will be accompanying the biopic.

Bobby Brown has just finished writing his memoir, “Every Little Step”, which will feature details of his marriage with Whitney Houston. The book will be out in June. On June 10th ABC News will air a special edition of “20/20” featuring an interview with Bobby Brown about his book.
