I get followed by about 500 people on Twitter. Most of them are music producers or artists, and most are in the same stages of their music careers as I am, but every once in a while I get a little surprise, when I check out one my followers’ profile. Like when Shelly Peiken popped up.

To my surprise, Shelly turned out to be the woman behind some of my favorite hits, like Meredith Brooks’ “Bitch”. Which woman doesn’t like that track? I mean, we all know we’re every woman; it’s all in us. No wonder Shelly received a Grammy for this song.

But Shelly Peiken has a career spanning back to 1986 and wrote in many genres for many artists; “What A Girl Wants” (Christina Aguilera), “Almost Doesn’t Count” (Brandy),  “Aftershock” (Demi Lovato), “Perfect Strangers” (INXS) and “Out From Under” (Britney Spears).

She’s been sharing stories of her life on her own blog as well as in publications she wrote for the Huffington Post, but she’s been “yapping” (in her own words) about a book for a little over a year and now, it’s finally coming.

“Confessions Of A Serial Songwriter” is a memoir of her life and career. It’s an entertaining book with the story of her life, including the daily struggle to combine family life with career, but also with an elaborate description of the creative process when collaborating on a song together. She talks a little of egos in the business as well as the shady side of it.

The book will be available by March 1st, 2016 and it will retails at around $19.99. It’s currently available for pre-order it on her website or at Amazon.
