R&B Singer Karyn White Turns Actress

If you like classic R&B music, you know Karyn White from songs like “Secret Rendezvous“, “Romantic” and “Superwoman“.

She was part of the rise of Babyface and LA Reid, and helped shape R&B music that would be so iconic for the 90s. Basically, she was paving the way for groups like Boyz II Men to thrive as much as they did later.

Finding Forever

In recent years, Karyn worked on music independently, but she’s just kick started a new career as an actress. She plays the lead character in a new dramatic TV series called “Finding Forever”.

Rendezvous At 40+

As the 41 year old Terri Young, a divorced single mother, she’s starting over. Her character suffers from an empty nest syndrome, after her 18 year old son leaves for college. She then runs into a man who’s 18 years her junior, but wins her heart nevertheless. The story and challenges of their romance, as well as their age difference, are followed throughout the series.

Executive Producing

Karyn White is also the executive producer of the show and, of course, she’s responsible for the music with Da Dreak and ChestnuTT.

They are currently still shooting a series of 8 – 10 episodes, which should be making its way to us in the summer.

Soul Train Awards 2015

Keeping her impact on R&B music in mind, Karyn was clearly absent in the Babyface tribute at the Soul Train Awards, which was performed at the end of last year.

Fantasia And Babyface Tribute

Even though Fantasia gave away a great rendition of “Superwoman”, it was strange that Karyn wasn’t there to do it herself. It couldn’t have gotten better than that, right?

Well, many people thought that too and Karyn took to YouTube to respond to all of the questions about it.

While for most of us with a love for 80s and 90s R&B, think Karyn made an everlasting impression, others simply forgot to call her to ask her to perform her own song.

Other Businesses

Things like that confirm why one may need a break from the music industry. Since the end of the 90s, Karyn concentrated on family life and turned another creative talent of hers into a business. She got into interior design and real estate.

Especially her eye for interior design, is something she displays on her Instagram account – though now applied to her own home.

It’s good to see her back in the entertainment business. She couldn’t have made this move at a better time.
