9 New Sam Smith songs with deluxe edition

Published November 18th 2015

Just like One Directon, Sam Smith is also planning on taking a break before he’ll be releasing his second album. It’s been reported, he’s been out on the road for three years straight needs a little time to “just be a 23 year old and enjoy life”.

At his lowest, he wrote his debut album “In The Lonely Hour”, sparking his global fame with hits such as “I’m Not The Only One”, “Stay With Me” and “Like I Can”. All also leading to his James Bond theme “Writing’s On The Wall” .

Since, a lot has happened for Sam. Not only did he get world fame, but he also lost some weight and seems to just find himself at a much happier place in life than before. As he revealed on Ellen’s show, he now wants to “kiss more boys” and probably find inspiration for his new album.

Even though his break is well deserved, his first album has gotten repackaged for a rerelease earlier this month. On  Beats 1 Radio, he premiered a new song that has been added to the deluxe version. The track is called “Drowning Shadows”. It’s a beautiful piano ballad, that showcases Sam’s unique vocals at his best.

Sam explained that the song had been produced several times, during the writing and recording phase of “In The Lonely Hour”, but it never really came together, until they brought the track back to basics, when rerecording it later, using just a piano.

It’s one of a few new tracks newly added to the album. His European breakthrough song with Naughty Boy (“La La La”) and an acoustic version of Disclosure’s “Latch” were also added. However, if you’re a bit of a fan, you might want to get all the international versions of the deluxe edition as many previously unreleased songs or special versions have been added to various editions. Japan’s version alone already contains 9!

Disclosure and Sam performed a cover of Drake’s “Hotline Bling” 2 months ago for BBC 1’s Live Lounge.
