6 Moments Kylie Minogue raised the heat to 100 degrees

Published November 28th 2015

“Count backwards, 5 4 3 2 1, before you get too heated and turned on”. Those are the words Kylie Minogue once sang in her song “Red Blooded Woman”, but these are the moments in which she turned on the heat.

1) Can’t Get Blue Monday Out Of My Head – Brit Awards 2002

At Earls Court in London, on February 20th 2002, Kylie Minogue not only received two Brit Awards – one for Best International Female and another for Best International Album (“Fever”) – but she also gave away a surprising performance.

She mashed up her biggest hit “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head” with New Order’s “Blue Monday”.

Appearing in the shortest white Dolce & Gabbana corset dress with long shiny silver boots, Kylie showcased her best and most famous features, while doing a flawless performance.

Press and gossip sites were raving about her performance (and the mashup), even calling it triumphant.  It became one of her most iconic performances that shaped that era of her career.

2) Walking on Antonio Berardi’s catwalk – Fashion week 1995

Kylie Minogue may have entered the pop scene falling victim to 80s fashion, but her overall fashion sense has rarely gone unnoticed.

She’s admitted, several times, that she used to get clothes at vintage shops to then redo the outfit and turn it into something else. Perhaps, that’s what got all fashion designers intrigued by her.

Jean Paul Gaultier and Dolce & Gabbana have all worked with her for tours, but before them, there was Antonio Berardi. He gave Kylie the unique opportunity to walk the catwalk herself.

During the London fashion week in 1995, Kylie showed this daring outfit, revealing more of her edgy site, which she was exploring in the first leg of her Deconstruction era.

3)The Delinquents – movie 1989

The combination of her dating INXS rock singer Michael Hutchence and this movie, gave Kylie Minogue the opportunity to move away from her innocent and fun “Smiley Kylie” pop image.

The image was giving to her by label PWL, who required it from all their pop stars, but the movie showed a girl turning into a woman and seemed to sync with her personal situation.

The movie also required her to show her boobs in a love scene, so when her next album came out, a sexy change in her image was only logical and she’s never looked back.

4) Agent Provocateur – commercial 2001

Up on to this point Kylie Minogue had only be showing more and more skin and making some fun sexual plays in photo shoots, but with this commercial she left little to the imagination. This raised the temperature up too high for some. The commercial was banned in the UK.

Funny enough, Kylie Minogue was also launching her own lingerie line “Love Kylie” in 2001, which is still in existence today. The idea from the commercial returned inthe promotion of her own line, as well as in a performance of Sensitized later.

5) Surprising a fan in the gym – MasterCard UK promotion 2014

Promoting her single “Into The Blue”, she surprised fan Adam with a bit of a flash mob, heating up the gym.

6) Sexercize – video 2014

There are so many moments to choose from for this list. Kylie Minogue has done a lot of great fashion spreads for important magazines, like Vogue Australia 2014, which resulted in graceful and beautiful photos, but to close this list, I really wanted to pick one of her music videos.

Finding a video of hers that wouldn’t raise the temperature is pretty difficult. So I chose the one that picked up where the Agent Provocateur commercial left off. The one with the most obvious, perhaps even cheesiest, sexual references.

“Sexercize” was written by Sia and is featured on Kylie’s “Kiss Me Once” album.
