4 Original Christmas songs by tomorrows stars

Published December 21st 2015

Are you getting tired of all those well known Christmas songs by the biggest stars? I wasn’t, but I enjoy this time a year fully, so I’m the exception to the rule.

Underground Christmas Songs

Still, I was curious what was happening with the holiday cheer underground. I was sure that unknown artists or independent artists would have some hidden gems tucked away somewhere. Perhaps Christmas songs without the traditional bells, strings or ho ho hos.

No Response, No Holiday Greetings

However, there was hardly any response to my posts on my social media channels calling out for YouTube videos and SoundCloud. So in a quest to find some original Christmas songs I had to dig deep myself and unfortunately I  didn’t find any hidden gems, but some fun, quite and traditional sounding songs.

Jillian Edwards – All My Christmases

A live recording by Jillian Edwards brings Christmas to you like a young Jewel could’ve. Sweet, authentic and acoustic, so no bells and no strings. This Nashville, TN singer/songwriter actually has a full Christmas EP out.

Bonnie McKee – California Winter Extravaganza

Bonnie McKee is exactly the opposite. She threw out all the traditions to create this fun, but cheesy pop track and a video only a Californian girl could get away with.

Nathan Carter – Christmas Stuff

Irish country singer Nathan Carter has only known success in his own country so far, but he’s only been signed to a record company since 2014. For his Christmas album, he covered all the classics and added one original track that sounds like a classic. The song “Christmas Stuff” is upbeat and sounds an awful lot like it could’ve been a Michael Bublé song. In the video, he couldn’t even resist a very bad Christmas sweater.

Alex Alexander – Christmas Is Here

In contradiction to Bonnie McKee, Swedish indie artist, Alex Alexander, stays in all the traditions of a Christmas song. No video, but here’s the audio for the very predictable “Christmas Is Here”.
